Mark Martin’s plans for the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season could include working closely with Stewart-Haas Racing.
Mark Martin recently jumped on board with Stewart-Haas Racing as a replacement driver for an injured Tony Stewart. Although Mark Martin’s role as a replacement driver will end at the end of the 2013 season his role at Stewart-Haas Racing could continue next year.
On Tuesday both Tony Stewart and Mark Martin shared insight on possible plans for 2014 including having Martin participate in testing for Stewart-Haas Racing and being a team consultant.
“I’m all for Mark Martin doing all the testing he wants to do,” Tony Stewart said during his press conference. Tony Stewart was responding to a question about the possibility of Mark Martin testing for Stewart-Haas Racing in 2014.
After Stewart’s press conference Mark Martin spoke with FOX Sports and entertained the idea of working together with Stewart-Haas Racing in 2014, saying how that idea has been discussed for a while.
“We were already talking about working together next year before Tony got hurt,” Mark Martin told FOX Sports in an interview.
Mark Martin went on to tell FOX Sports that he could help Danica Patrick get up to speed by working with her and her crew chief Tony Gibson as a go-between.
